Louise Gluck's writings occasionally lure me in, and this week was no exception. I often revisit the poem Parable because it reminds me of time and the constraints we place on each other through symbolism and archetypes (good or bad).
Working with color in my photographs has often been a challenge. I'm tormented by what could be (better) and how to communicate a message. Additionally, the newer camera models pack many features, software, and the files are built to be worked with at length (or ad nauseam?). Regardless of how you make photographs, I'm finding that simpler is often the better choice.
On Tuesday afternoon, I took Chloe and Ellie to Bob Gardner Park to practice soccer and improve their skills. Seeing them pour their energies and try more intensively than has been the weekly practice was great. I need to stay on this schedule as I feel they need more routine and hours working with their feet and broader coordination.
As I am about to share these notes, I was saddened to hear about Pope Francis's passing. Just yesterday, I was talking with Father Jerry following his Easter service, and he mentioned making the trip to Rome on Wednesday to participate in the canonization of Carlos Acutis.
